CSL Plasma Donation Requirements (ID, Health, and Account)

Updated · Written by an active CSL Plasma donor

This page is the practical requirements checklist—what documents, screening steps, and app account pieces you need so a CSL Plasma donation (and a referral) can actually go through.

For age, weight, tattoos/piercings, medications, and who may be deferred, use the deeper eligibility guide.

Important: Document lists, screening steps, and reward rules can change. Your local CSL Plasma center and the CSL Plasma app have the final say. Confirm before you visit.

Legal/ID requirements

CSL Plasma verifies identity and residency (FDA-related donor identification). For a first visit, plan on three documentation buckets. CSL’s official documentation page lists examples such as:

1. Valid photo identification

  • Valid, current driver’s license
  • Valid photo ID issued by a federal, state, or local agency (or other listed entities)
  • University student ID with photo
  • U.S. military card or draft record
  • Valid military dependent ID
  • Valid U.S. passport

If you use a passport, CSL’s first-time guidance notes you may also need a secondary ID (for example, a birth certificate or Social Security card). Expired IDs are a common reason centers send people home—bring current docs.

2. Unique identification number (Social Security proof)

Examples CSL lists include:

  • Social Security card
  • Voter registration card that shows your SSN
  • W-2
  • Form 1099 from a bank or financial institution
  • Bank statement from an interest-bearing account
  • Certain government assistance documents that show the number

3. Proof of current address / residency

Examples CSL lists include:

  • Valid picture ID that already shows your current address
  • Mail postmarked within the past 60 days with your name and address (electronic copies often OK)
  • Current lease (electronic often OK)
  • Current utility bill dated within the past 60 days (electronic often OK)
  • Current paycheck stub with address (electronic often OK)

Date-window hedge: CSL’s documentation table and FAQ lean on a ~60-day mail/utility window; some CSL prep/blog pages describe address proof within ~90 days. Those are not identical across every CSL page—ask your local center which window they accept the day you go. Puerto Rico donors may need proof of postal address. Border centers have additional ID options (for example, certain foreign-government IDs / CURP)—confirm with that center.

Health screening requirements

“Requirements” here means the process you must complete, not a full medical encyclopedia. CSL determines eligibility during your visit.

Typical new-donor screening includes:

  1. Health history questionnaire — day-of questions about your health, travel, risk factors, and related topics
  2. Medication / supplement disclosure — bring a current list (prescriptions, OTC, supplements, birth control, hormone replacement)
  3. On-site checks — vitals and related screening (for example, blood pressure and protein/hematocrit-style checks—exact steps are center-directed)
  4. New-donor physical — commonly part of the first visit
  5. Staff review — a Medical Staff Associate reviews answers and decides if you can donate that day

High-level fitness anchors CSL posts publicly (confirm in app/center): generally 18–74, at least 110 pounds, good health, valid ID and permanent address, and no new tattoo/piercing inside the window they publish (commonly four months—verify current policy).

If you need depth on deferrals, medications, or “who cannot donate,” that content lives on CSL Plasma eligibility—this page intentionally does not rewrite that list. When unsure about a condition or drug, ask center medical staff; internet lists are not a substitute.

Return visits still require day-of screening. Many return donors can complete the Self-Administered Health History (SAHH) in the CSL Plasma app on donation day and show a CSL Pass QR code to shorten check-in—available once you have a center donor record.

Account / app requirements for bonuses

Donation fees after a completed visit are separate from referral / iGive Rewards®. To participate in CSL’s referral program and see referral status, you typically need:

RequirementWhy it matters
CSL Plasma app accountWhere you apply a referral code, track referrals, and manage rewards
Donor NumberIssued at the center after registration; required to activate iGive
Active iGive Rewards®Soft requirement for referral participation—CSL’s terms require an active iGive account for referees (and referrers)
Referral code applied correctlyMust land in the app’s referral flow within the timing window (below)

Practical sequence many new donors follow:

  1. Download the CSL Plasma app (before or around visit one).
  2. Complete your first successful donation and receive your donor number.
  3. Activate iGive Rewards® (pre-donor accounts convert after the donor number is issued).
  4. Apply referral code Q6MT7GL0XU in Referrals within the 7-day code ↔ first-donation window.
  5. Keep iGive active through your second qualifying donation.

More on activation and common “code not working” fixes: iGive Rewards explained. Program overview: referral program.

Referral program requirements (new donor, 2 donations, 30 days)

Separate from “can I sit in the chair today,” CSL’s published referral terms require the referred person to:

  1. Be a true new donor with no prior donation history at any CSL Plasma center
  2. Couple the referral code and first donation within 7 days of each other (code within 7 days after first donation, or first donation within 7 days after applying the code)
  3. Complete 2 successful donations within 30 days of the first donation
  4. Maintain an active iGive Rewards® account

Referrals that miss these criteria do not qualify for the referrer reward—even if you still earn normal donation pay. Deferrals that block a successful donation can push you outside the 30-day window, so plan visit two early when you can.

CSL’s referrer-facing promos have commonly advertised about $100 in iGive points after the new donor fully qualifies (example promo windows have appeared on CSL’s return-donor pages—amounts and dates change; confirm in the app). The new donor’s own new-donor fees are a separate center compensation structure.

Start checklist + code Q6MT7GL0XU

Use this as a pre-visit requirements checklist:

  1. Confirm medical basics on eligibility (age, weight, health, deferrals)—then come back here for docs and account steps.
  2. Gather ID stack — photo ID + Social Security proof + address proof (+ meds list). Detail: what to bring.
  3. Confirm you’re a true new CSL donor (no prior CSL donations anywhere).
  4. Install the CSL Plasma app; plan to activate iGive after you get your donor number.
  5. Apply referral code Q6MT7GL0XU inside the app’s referral flow within the 7-day window.
  6. Complete donation 1, then donation 2 within 30 days.

Extra cash-back from Emiliano: After CSL’s referral qualifies (typically once those 2 donations and other program rules clear, and the referrer’s ~$100 iGive reward is in play), Emiliano sends an additional $50 via Cash App, Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, or Apple Pay. Details live on plasmareferralcode.com and the referral code page.

Amounts, windows, and center rules change—double-check the CSL Plasma app and your local center. If your docs and account pieces are ready and you’re new to CSL, code Q6MT7GL0XU is a straightforward way to start.
